this post is in collaboration with Wicked Uncle but all thoughts and opinions are my own
I don’t know about you but I find gifting for little ones is quite a challenge. Their likes and dislikes change almost by the hour. With Christmas coming up we’ll all be shopping for family and friends and it’s difficult to find a gift that’s a little bit different. Wicked Uncle have so many brilliant children’s presents to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice! Wicked Uncle have a handy ‘shop by age’ section on their site, helping you to narrow down your search parameters and pick the perfect gift, whether the little one in your life is a baby or a 14 year old. (There’s even gifts for grandparents and parents to play along with) I thought I’d put together a guide to some of my favourite finds to help give you a little inspiration to get stuck into your Christmas shopping.
Babies and Toddlers
I love shopping for the baby/ toddler age group and I’m rather sad Theodore is starting to go beyond this stage now. I’ve very much enjoyed having an excuse to scroll through all the cute baby toys again.
If the little one you’re shopping for is still tiny then something like the Twilight Ladybug Starry Nightlight is a beautiful gift idea. Little babies love sensory type toys with lights and hopefully it’ll help amuse them long enough for their tired parents to get a nice warm cup of tea! Wicked Uncle also have a range of beautiful keepsake teddies, perfect for that special First Christmas keepsake.
Stacking toys are always a hit with toddlers. For younger ones just learning the Hape Pepe Sound Stacker is a great idea, it has simple chunky, colourful pieces and makes sounds as they stack. For older ones the Janod Magnetic Stacking Rocket is a little more complex with the magnets involved while also creating a rocket for imaginary play.
Puzzles are also a great gift idea for this age group, fun, educational and time consuming their the perfect gift which will certainly get approval from parents. For younger ones just learning about puzzles the Learning Resources Hide and Seek Learning Treehouse is a colourful introduction to shapes and colours. If your little one is more advance then the Hape Sea Turtle Puzzle Maze or the Janod Chunky Dinosaur Puzzle are both fun present ideas.
Children
Once children become primary school aged it gets much more tricky, in my opinion, to pick a good gift. It’s hard to know what’s age appropriate when likes and dislikes change so quickly. That’s where Wicked Uncle’s age category function comes in extremely handy. You’ll avoid the embarrassment and disgust from your little cousin or nephew on Christmas morning when they’re not gifted something that’s far too young for them!
Some of my favourite choices are the Hape Solar System Puzzle or a Map of The World Puzzle There’s nothing better than spending your Christmas holiday’s tackling a tricky puzzle and both the solar system and map of the world puzzle have plenty of learning potential while also being fun!
If you’ve a budding young scientist on your gifting list something like a Human Body Science Kit full of experiments will go down a treat or a great one for younger primary children is a home Caterpillar Greenhouse Kit which comes with a voucher to get live caterpillars delivered straight to your door. Little ones will be amazed watching the butterfly life cycle and it would be a fab gift to bring in for school show and tell.
Create a new Christmas tradition by gifting a fun at home Gingerbread House Baking Kit with everything little one’s need to create a tasty festive decorated gingerbread house. This is sure to be a hit with all the family, no matter what age.
For the technology loving child Wicked Uncle have a range of robots, gadgets and gizmos. A Light Up Jump Rocket is sure to bring hours of fun or a Pokibot – Mini Interactive Robot to amuse everyone on Christmas morning.
