Squish is due in only a few days! (I cannot quite believe I’m typing that!) Alongside my obsessive cleaning and buying of baby products I’ve also been planning out meals for those first few newborn haze weeks. My dairy intolerance makes buying convenience food a real challenge and to be honest I don’t think I’d really want to survive on a mix of microwave meals and takeaways when Squish arrives. I’m hoping to breastfeed so I need to make sure I’m eating substantial meals to increase and maintain my milk supply.
The first step in meal prep was to get a new fridge freezer to store everything I cook! I normally cook my meals fresh and only had a small fridge with an even tinier freezer on top. It was even a little on the small side for me when you added the multitude of rocket lollies I’ve been craving throughout my pregnancy. I’d ummed and ahhed for a long time but finally decided I needed to take the plunge and get a bigger one, especially as I plan to be freezing a lot of meals.
I fell in love with the Samsung RS800 American Fridge Freezer from AO.* It holds 34 bags of shopping, has tonnes of shelves and drawers and even has an ice and water dispenser. Really what’s not to love?! I now have tonnes of space for all of my fruit, vegetables and frozen goods. The fridge and freezer have Samsung’s Twin Cooling Plus System which means the air to each side is separated allowing all your food to be kept at the perfect temperature without flavours transferring. My huge stock pile Tesco shop arrived yesterday (something I recommend every mum to be does before their baby arrives) and everything fits perfectly into the fridge freezer. Due to the great amount of shelves I don’t have to risk toppling over all our food while looking for a yoghurt! The Samsung RS800 also has a fast freeze option allowing you to quickly refreeze the contents of your weekly shop. This is going to be a god send when Squish arrives as I’m sure I’ll struggle to find the time to get things in the freezer fast after dealing with a car seat and tiny baby. I truly think a large american style fridge freezer is an investment every growing family should make.
I’ve been googling a lot of recipes that are nutritious as well as freezable. I’ve linked some of the ones I’ve been making down below.
Sweet Potato Chicken Casserole

You sound so organized! Everything sorted it seems! That’s great to read when you are so far from having babies but have an idea of how people sort things out! No idea for meal prep no sorry!
Good luck, my tip is never miss a chance to eat as you could go into labour at anytime. I skipped dinner because I was full from lunch and ended up going 27 hours without food
How exciting! Massive congrats. 🙂
Also, that fridge is a dream!
Wow, that’s so exciting, I hope everything goes well with new baby! The new fridge freezer is so stylish and sounds like a great investment for a growing family. Thanks for sharing the recipes too, need to check out the quinoa pizza bites 😍 xx

Love the fridge freezer our fridge give out in April and I know I wanted a new one before TTC so we get a really tall Belko for AO, I would have loved one like this but out gap is only 55mm so very limited on space. We do have a chest freezer in our little out building though so thats good. Good luck with your birth and the first few weeks look forward to reading all your posts and advice as we are TTC our first X
I can’t believe how soon you’re due, it’s absolutely flown! How exciting! As a massive foodie, I love this fridge. Mine isn’t tiny but it’s small enough that it gets disorganised easily. This looks perfect! x
