AD. This post is in conjunction with Boots UK but all thoughts are my own
With the world finally getting back to some sort of normality post lockdown I’ve been reaching for my much neglected make up bag more and more. I don’t know about you but I used the last year and a half to really give my skin a break and make up was one of the last things on my mind.
With bars and clubs now open again and many weddings and festive parties on the horizon though, there’s no better time to treat yourself to some new makeup to help you get party ready.
Boots UK kindly treated me to some new products from their extensive range to create a glittery party ready eye makeup look. Boots stock so many different eye make up products that there is something for everyone, whether you’re an eyeshadow novice or a self confessed beauty expert! I’ve really enjoyed having an excuse to experiment with some not so everyday products. Keep reading for a step by step guide on how I created my glam and glittery eye look along with what products I used.
Step One – Base
I know this is a regularly argued point in the beauty world but I personally like to do my base first & leave my eyes and brows to the end. I used Bite Beauty’s Changemaker Foundation (my current favourite!), some Nars Soft Matte Concealer to cover some small blemishes and try and mask my under eye circles, Too Faced’s Chocolate Solei Bronzer, a little blush and then the NYX Strobe Of Genius palette to highlight. I wanted a simple medium coverage base so that all the focus was on my eyes.
Step Two – Eye Shadow
The first product I reached for was the Nars Voyageur palette in Nectar. If you’ve been a reader on PaleGirlRambling for a while you’ll know I already have a Voyageur palette in Copper and it’s one of my favourites and most reached for. Nectar is more pinky toned than Copper and goes beautifully with the other goodies I picked up. Nectar has a nice mix of mattes and shimmer shades to allow a multitude of different looks. I used the top left neutral shade all over my lid as a base and then blended the bottom left, darkest shade into my crease. I then dragged the colour half way along my lower lash line blending as I went to create a subtle smoky effect.
Step Three – Sparkle
I have been lusting after the Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow sticks for the longest time so this was the perfect opportunity to try one out and it has not disappointed! I choose Golden Pink to go with the Nars Voyageur in Nectar and I’m in love with the combination. The shadows sticks are so easy to apply and very pigmented. I applied Golden Pink to my lid and blended into my crease slightly to avoid any harsh lines. The subtle yet glam shimmer this adds is just beautiful. I can tell I will reach for this beauty often, regardless of whether it’s party make up or more casual every day make up.
Step Four – Lashes
I have been a fan of KISS eyelashes for years now, they’re my most used brand of false lashes. They have something to suit every occasion. Whether you need more casual lashes to add a little length or more voluminous, dramatic party ready lashes, you’re sure to find a KISS lash perfect for any event. I went for KISS lashes in ‘shy’ to compliment my look, something subtle to add some length while leaving the focus on the sparkles. My top tip when applying false lashes is to use a little liquid eyeliner to help blend the false lashes into your own lashes.
Step Five – Brows
Benefit have been leading the brow market for quite some time and it’s easy to see why. I used to use Gimme Brow religiously as a teen back when it was in its little brown tube. The brow range has had a make over since then but the products are just as incredible. I used Gimme Brow shade 2 all over my brows to tame them into shape and add a little colour. I also use the Benefit Precisely My Brow eyebrow pencil in shade 2 to add a little more definition to the front fluffy part of my brows.
Step Six – Finishing Touches
No party look is complete without some glitter and this is my most favourite step! Again, another product I’ve been lusting after for some time, I picked up Stila’s Magnificent Metal’s Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Rose Gold Retro for a final sparkly touch. These are super simple to apply using the doe foot applicator. I popped some on my eyelids from my inner corner outwards to add that wow factor!
A final slick of Bite Beauty’s Power Matte Lipstick in Sugar Buns and a spritz of Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray and my look is complete!
I hope this look has given you some much needed inspiration to create your next glam party look. All products mentioned can be picked up online at Boots.com

I remember the first time I went to the UK, I knew I wanted to check out a boots! I walked in, and I really enjoyed it, because it had some expensive beauty products and inexpensive as well. It reminded me a bit of the US version of Ulta, but lots of extra things. Ulta only sells all different kinds of beauty, and Boots sells some extra things. I wish we had a boots in the US! xx
