I’m a major skincare lover, I spend so much time trying out new products as very few work well with my very sensitive and dry skin. A few months ago now, Dermalogica kindly invited me to try out their 1-to-1 virtual face mapping, skincare consultation service and I was intrigued! Available to book online and perfect for the currently pandemic environment, you can have a personalised skincare consultation with a trained skincare professional from the luxury and comfort of your own home.
The consultations take place over Microsoft Teams, you’re sent a link from your therapist to join the meeting along with a form to fill in with all your skin care and lifestyle choices. This helps to inform your therapist which will be the perfect products to choose for you.
Dermalogica kindly sent me a range of the products I was recommended to try out. I wanted to give them a few months to see if I was impressed and I’ve been loving the results. My therapist really paid attention to what I told her and selected the most perfect products for my dry and sensitive skin which is also prone to some hormonal breakouts.
For my morning skincare I’ve been using Dermalogica’s Ultra Calming Cleanser mixed with the Daily Microfoliant to cleanse and exfoliate my skin in one quick simple step. I then apply the Calm Water Gel moisturiser, Biolumin-C Eye Serum and can also add some Age Bright Spot Fader if I have any spots. The Calm Water Gel in particular has become a real favourite, it soothes and hydrates my skin leaving me with a beautiful glow throughout the day. The final step in my daytime skincare and a very important one is to apply spf. Dermalogica’s Invisible Physical Defence is a mineral sunscreen so should be the last step in your skincare routine. If you’re using a chemical suncream then it should be applied before moisturiser.
My night time skincare routine starts off with Dermalogica’s Precleanse Balm, a thick balm that turns to oil when massaged into your skin and gently cleanses and removes makeup. I then double cleanse using the Ultra Calming Cleanser from my morning skincare to make sure there’s no residue left on my skin. If I have time I like to use a hydrating face mask like the Skin Hydrating Masque, I pop this on for 15 to 20 minutes while I get on with some household chores and it calms and hydrates my sensitive skin. I then apply Dermalogica’s Redness Relief Essence, a calming toner perfect for those who suffer with redness and sensitive skin. It’s particularly incredible in the summer months after a day in the sunshine. I pop on some Biolumin-C Eye Serum and Age Bright Spot Fader if needed. Then the final two steps in the evening are Sound Sleep Cocoon night cream and Nightly Lip Treatment, a luxurious overnight lip mask. The Sound Sleep Cocoon is another firm favourite, light weight yet intensely hydrating my skin has never felt so soft.
I am so impressed with the products I’ve been recommended, they’ve made a massive difference to my skin over the past few months. My skin is more hydrated than it’s ever been and although a good skincare routine can’t prevent hormonal breakouts it’s helped minimise them and heal spots quicker when they do crop up.
