If you’ve been a reader of PaleGirlRambling for a while you’ll know I’m a huge advocate for switching to cloth nappies! Each baby uses an average of 3500 nappies in their life time and all of that ends up in landfill with each nappy taking over 500 years to break down! I love trying new brands of nappy on Theodore so when Close Parent offered to send us over the Close Pop-In nappy to try I was delighted.
Close Parent released a Limited Edition Bio-Laminate Puffin Print V2 Pop-In. You can purchase either newborn or birth to potty Pop-In nappies and either a popper or hook and loop (velcro) version. I personally really love the popper version as the poppers prevent Theodore being able to remove the nappy by himself, he’s a bit of a menace when it comes to velcro! The hook and loop version would be excellent for littler ones though or as a nappy to send to childcare as people who haven’t used cloth before seem to get on a bit better with velcro, I guess because it’s more similar to a disposable! Each Pop-In nappy is made using 2 1/2 plastics bottles so you’re not only stopping nappies going to land fill but plastic bottles too!
“Our gorgeous Puffin print uses our brand new bio laminate, this material is a another first for Pop-in, unlike standard TPU it uses 20-30% renewable plant based ingredients which helps to conserve precious non-renewable energy sources and reduce green house emissions”
I love the design of the Pop-In nappy, it has a double gusset to help contain everything along with two bamboo boosters that can be poppered in keeping them in place. I was also very intrigued to see that Close Parent have included an extra absorbent area inside the outer water proof cover to keep wetness to the middle of the nappy helping to prevent leaks. I’ve never seen a design like this before and I think it’s a very clever idea! You can also purchase an additional night time tri-fold from Close Parent essentially allowing you to use the Pop-In nappies full time for day time and night time. The night time tri-fold poppers around the bamboo boosters giving you four layers in total of absorbent material to last throughout the night. The tri-fold is a combination of bamboo and stay dry fleece to wick moisture away from your little ones skin.
We were also sent a set of reusable wipes in the cutest colours! Each set comes with a wet bag to store your wipes and 10 multi coloured bamboo cotton wipes. Even if you haven’t made the change to cloth nappies wipes are a very simple step you can take to being more eco friendly. You can store wipes wet or dry, whatever works best for you. I personally like to wet a few wipes for the day and then store them in the wet bag so they’re ready to go for nappy change time.
