I had been lusting after the Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask for the best part of a year, I saw so many bloggers and Instagrammers rave about how good it was. If you read my beauty gift guide last year you’ll already know I snapped up a fab set from Cult Beauty containing the Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask, Watermelon Pink Juice Moisturiser and the Blueberry Bounce Cleanser. Now I’ve been using everything for a few months I thought I’d create an in-depth review and let you know whether Glow Recipe is really worth the hype the blogosphere has given it!
Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask
Firstly I love the lux glass jar of the Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask, it feels like a treat and looks gorgeous sitting on my bathroom shelf. As soon as you untwist the lid you’re hit with a gorgeous watermelon scent. You can use the mask as either a ten minute wash off mask or as a sleep mask, which is my preferred option!
I try to apply this at least 20 minutes before going to bed to allow the mask to dry in a little and prevent my pillow getting all sticky.
The mask contains AHA’s to exfoliate your skin while you sleep, because of this I’d recommend if you have sensitive skin to only use this mask a max of 3 times a week until your skin gets used to it. It’s also packed full of hyaluronic acid to plump and hydrate your skin.
My face looks really pump and glowy in the morning after using the mask. It does leave a little bit of residue so make sure you give your face a good cleanse once you get out of bed. This mask has become a twice weekly staple for me, I love the effect it has on my skin and the scent is the best. I’d highly recommend adding this to your basket if you’re looking for some new masks for a pamper.
Blueberry Bounce Cleanser
I’m not going to lie, I found the Blueberry Bounce cleanser a little underwhelming. It’s a nice enough cleanser for every day use, the scent is nice when initially squeeze out of the bottle but becomes a little too chemical smelling for my liking when mixed with water. I will say that it is gentle and didn’t irritate my sensitive skin, so it gets points for that but it also left my face feeling a little stripped which obviously isn’t good for dry skin. It certainly isn’t hard wearing enough to remove my full face of makeup so I’d only be able to use this as a second cleanse. I much prefer my creamy Pai cleanser or Ren cleanser so I won’t be adding this to my repurchase list.
Watermelon Pink Juice Moisturiser
Thankfully I love the Watermelon Pink Juice moisturiser. It’s like a much lighter weight version of the mask. If you have oily or combination skin then I think you could use this as your day moisturiser but if you have dry skin like me then I’d recommend using this more like a serum underneath your usual daily moisturiser as it really is light weight. It smooths and soothes your skin as soon as you apply and the scent just puts me in the best mood.
Have you got on the Glow Recipe hype and tried any products from the brands range yet? If you have, do you think they’re worth the hype?
