I am officially on maternity leave! It was the last day of the school term yesterday so although I’m technically on annual leave until August I won’t be back to work until after Squish is here and that is so insanely scary! It definitely makes this a whole lot more real. I’ve had a multitude of third trimester pregnancy symptoms these past few weeks. I’m also going for a scan on Monday to check on Squish’s size as I’m continuing to measure very small.
Symptoms
Heart burn/ acid reflux has definitely been more frequent these past few weeks. It’s at it’s worst at night. I was feeling really down about it so asked on Instagram if anyone had any tips to cope, some kind soul suggested lovehearts and I am now forever indebted to them! I don’t know how it helps (and frankly at three am I don’t care!) crunch about four sweets and within five minutes max the heartburn is basically gone. I now have a stock pile at the side of my bed.
I’ve been experiencing Braxton Hicks Contractions more and more frequently too and I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan! I get out my birthing ball though, pop on my Hypnobirthing tracks and practice my breathing and visualisations and it really helps.
Lack of sleep has been majorly getting me down, I don’t know if it’s due to our sweltering hot weather, pregnancy or a combination of both but I am so tired all the time from the sleepless nights. I wake up every hour, I can’t turn over in bed without feeling like I’ve done a 5K run, I just keep telling myself it’ll be all worth it when Squish arrives!
I’ve had pretty swollen and sore legs and feet the past week or so, I think this is pregnancy, heat and being on my feet in work all day combined so now I’m on maternity leave I’m hoping this will ease! My Temple Spa Sole Balm and AAAHHH have definitely been helping to ease the pain along with soaking my legs and feet in the bath.
Bumpie
Although the midwives say I’m measuring small I feel like my bump is massive! I almost forget how huge it is until I walk past a mirror and double take at the size! I’ve been very lucky so far and haven’t had any stretch marks, I really hope this continues as I continue to grow over these last few weeks!
I really can’t quite believe that in 6 (maybe less if I’m induced!) weeks I’ll have a little baby! It still doesn’t feel real, I don’t know if it’s ever going to until Squish is actually here! Now I’m on maternity I plan to sit down and make sure I’ve got everything truely organised for Squish’s arrival. I want to get some work done around the house and of course I need to get the Snuzpod built soon and attempt to turn my precious beauty room into a nursery!

I’m 33 and measuring small, I’m hoping spud has grown when I get to the midwives next week. Fingers crossed! I’ve had great success from lovehearts but having suffered really badly with it and cramps in my legs my midwife asked what side I slept on. I usually sleep on my right but after changing to the left on her recommendation the heart burn has improved so much! As has my sleep! It’s something to do with pressure on your stomach apparently, who knew!

Ahh measuring small is such a worry! My fingers are crossed for you that your little one has grown more! My scan is in a few hours and I’m starting to freak out!
It’s so strange that love hearts help isn’t it?! I’ll definitely try and make an effort to sleep on my left side all the time, thanks for the tip!

My baby is now 3 months, nearly 4 months old and it seems like a lifetime ago I was going through the same things you were going through. I was so tired all the time and just getting up was a chore!
Good luck and make sure you get plenty of leg massages!

Haha yes getting up can definitely seem like a chore some mornings! I hope in 4 months I’m blissfully looking back on the pregnancy symptoms thinking how long ago it was! Leg massages are bliss right now, I’m very lucky my partner is happy to massage them for me!lol

Love your blog about pregnancy. I currently expect my first baby, 32 weeks. May I ask you how many weeks you were when giving birth to your babies? I don’t know why, I got feeling, that my girl might come earlier – 37 weeks or something like that.
