In every skincare post I’ve written recently I’ve been saying how much I’ve been struggling with blemishes and breakouts. All through my teenage years I was very lucky to have clear skin so all these blemishes have been a big adjustment for me and really getting me down. I’ve spent the past few months trying to find the perfect skincare routine to keep the breakouts at bay and finally I’ve done it! My skin is back to being clear with the odd spot here and there. Here’s my miracle updated skincare routine!
Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Blemish Cleanser Treatment
This cleanser was recommended to me by the lovely guy at the Kiehl’s Belfast store. You may have seen me mention it in my high end beauty haul. I explained my breakout issues and this was his solution. The Blue Herbal cleanser contains Salicylic Acid but unlike The Ordinary’s Salicylic Acid this is much less concentrated. I use this both morning and evening after I’ve taken my makeup off. It foams a little so you can tell it’s really working. It makes my face feel so clean but doesn’t strip away the natural oils.
Senssē Cleansing Device*
I have a full review on the Senssē cleansing device but honestly this little machine has revolutionised my skincare routine! Not only is it super gentle but its gives the deepest clean and also exfoliates. I use this morning and night for the recommended 3 minutes and I love it! It gives a better clean and also makes my skincare routine much more enjoyable. I use it with the Blue Herbal cleanser mentioned above.
Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask
Now this is a little miracle worker! It’s pricey at £48 for 50ml but hear me out! I don’t actually use this as an all over face mask, I use this a spot treatment so a little goes a long way! Not only does this mask help to clear breakouts but it also takes redness out of your skin. I apply this to my spots and leave it on for around 20 minutes, it hardens slightly and dries out but not to the point where it cracks or becomes uncomfortable. I then remove it using a cotton pad and some warm water. My blemishes look 300x better afterwards and it helps them go away much quicker!
The Body Shop Tea Tree Toner
I discovered this back when I did my very first The Body Shop Haul and it has been a staple ever since! Although this is definitely quite harsh for sensitive skin it’s worth it in my opinions. Tea tree is an antibacterial so it prevents spots from becoming infected. I apply this using a cotton pad after cleansing both morning and night. This is a drying product so you should definitely use a moisturiser after applying this. This also costs only £6 and its lasted me nearly six months so far and I’ve still got around half left so this is very affordable! I’ve also been combining this with my Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night mask and the combination works a treat!
Temple Spa Be Still moisturiser*
This is my go to everyday moisturiser and has been since I got it back in May along with some other Temple Spa goodies. It soothes skin as soon as you apply it which helps with redness. It’s hydrating but not to the point where it creates extra spots. I sometimes mix this with Temple Spa’s Life Defence which is SPF25 so protects my skin from the sun and environment.
Urban Veda Soothing Night Cream*
I’m obsessed with this night cream. I have a full review on the Urban Veda Skincare range if you’d like more information on their products. This night cream is soothing, hydrating and smells incredible. The combination of Sandalwood, Rosemary and Lavender relaxes me and puts me straight to sleep. When I wake up in the morning my skin is soft, plump and has no extra blemishes. I couldn’t be without this cream now, it’s a staple in my skincare routine.
T-Zone Scrub*
My final skincare favourite is this scrub from T-Zone. I use this once or twice a week to deeply exfoliate my skin. I absolutely love the scent of this scrub, it smells so fresh and isn’t harsh on my sensitive skin. Instead of using awful microbeads this scrub uses natural charcoal to exfoliate skin. It’s also really affordable, a 150ml scrub costs only £4.
These products combined have totally cleared my breakouts. Of course I get the odd spot but it’s nothing compared to how awful skin has been. What are your favourite products to beat breakouts? Are any of these on your list?
I have struggled recently with major breakouts on my chin (I am in my 40’s and never had problems like this before). I have being using the Dermalogica pre cleanse oil, Kiehls whitening face wash, glycolic 7% solution (from The Ordinary) and then Niacinamide 10% + Zinc PCA 1% (the Ordinary). It has made a marked improvement. I am hoping that this will prevent scarring and improve overall condition. Interesting post. xx
The body shop toner is something I really wanna try and incorporate into my daily skincare. Unfortunately, my breakouts are due to the pill and nothing over the counter works for me 🙁 xx
Ohhh, I’ve never heard of the Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Blemish Cleaner Treatment, it sounds like something that would suit me! I’ll have to check it out next time I’m in the city!

These products seem great! I really want to try new products that could possibly keep my skin clear or improve it 🙂 will have to look into these!

I’m so impressed that you’ve come up with a skincare routine that actually works to keep blemishes away! I’ve never quite managed. My skin was good for most of my pregnancy but for the past few weeks I’ve been breaking out all the time and cannot understand it! I think the tea tree sounds like a good idea, and refreshing as well!

I suffered from breakouts and spots almost all my life, this little post is super helpful in that respect. Thank you for the tips! ♥
I am glad that I messaged you regarding The Body Shop Tea Tree Toner because I have used it for three days now and I think that I am obsessed. It has worked instantly and I cannot get enough. My spots that I knew would be the horrible ones that last for days disappeared before they got nasty and I am so grateful haha.

Firstly, love your photos and I’ve been really loving your blog recently, so glad I found it! I luckily don’t suffer with any breakouts or bad skin problems, I’ve been lucky in that department, so I’ve never really tried a lot of products for blemishes! They all do sound really nice though, and a brand I have tried is the body shop, I have tried the tea tree toner and my god that smell brings back old childhood memories! At the minute I’ve recently finished with using No7 products and have moved onto Liz Earle, they’re so great on my skin! I’ve also always wanted to use one of those devices for the skin they just look and sound so cool hahaha x

That’s really interesting about using a high end deep cleansing mask as a spot on treatment (no pun intended!). It certainly makes it a much more viable purchase because you know it’s going to last a lot longer. Great tip, thank you! x

I’m actually yet to try any Kiehl’s products! They literally all sound amazing, so I have no idea where I’d start on my first shop.. 😍 I definitely need a visit to Body Shop soon though, so many things on my ‘to buy’ list! 🙊

I love anything from the Body shop, so I may give these a try! My skin has gotten better than it was in my teenage years, but I do get the occasional breakout. I’ll keep a mental note of all these products actually, you never know what might work for you 😀
Defo need to update my skin care routine. I’ve never use to have spots but I have been recently! Perfect post!

I’ve never tried anything from Kiehls but I am dying to! I wish I could use tea tree oil but it’s a little too harsh for my skin so I stick with the Mario Badescu Anti Acne Serum. Thanks for sharing! xo
thanks so much for sharing this. My breakouts have been so bad recently!

My skin is so bad right now, this is so helpful. I actually have the Omorovicza mask so I think I’m going to actually give it a try finally!

Oh I really need to buy the Kiehl’s cleanser! When the one that I’m using it’s empty for sure I’ll try this one. I really want to try that Tea Tree Toner too! xx

Great post and should def try The Body Shop products someday! Great post 🙂
I’ve had such bad breakouts recently so this post is a god send! I also love the T-Zone scrub, always have it in the shower to use in the morning! 🙊
The scrub from T-Zone is so lovely, I always use it! xx
This is such a great post you listed so many products I love especially Keihls loved it Hun xx
I need to try some of these out, I have been braking out recently! Thank you for the recommendations 🙂
I have heard a lot about the tea tree toner but I have to say that I’m not a big fan of the smell of tea tree. That being said it sounds like it lasts a long time and it’s affordable so I think I’ll give it a try!

I have quite dry skin but still get the odd breakout every now and again. I love the sound of the T Zone scrub, I have heard so many people say how good it is, I must try it! I really like the Neutrogena 2in1 mask and face wash for spots as well, it’s creamy too so doesn’t dry your skin out too much but also does a great job of fighting spots and preventing them! xx
Thanks for sharing this list. I haven’t tried the tea tree toner from the Body Shop yet, but they do a tea tree moisturiser. I don’t use it all over my face, but it’s been good for the problem areas.
Ever since I do a triple cleanse at night (first an oil-based product, then a water-based product and finally a toner), I haven’t had any breakouts… touch wood 😀 Great post and as always lovely pics… Love, Kathleen
I am very lucky in that I dont get spots, (Im too old) but I am keen to try some of the brands you mention. I hear a lot about Temple Spa, but havent tried anything from them. The Tea Tree toner is such a great product, its been around forever and so effective. Great post x
I’m breaking out so much at the moment so this post was very useful! I really need to get back into a proper skin care routine now the winter is coming! x
Fab post Rachael, my skin is horrific atm cause my skincare routine has taken a backseat to a very busy schedule, so this post will hopefully help save it! 💛

I really think I need to invest in the Kiehl’s cleanser. Hoping that using that and the Omorovicza mask will help me get rid of my spots for good! xx
I really need to get my skincare routine sorted. I need a face cleaner that really works and to do masks from time to time. This Kiehl’s cleaner looks fantastic! xx corinne
