As you all know by now I’ve been really revamping my skincare routine and taking the opportunity to try out lots of new brands. Urban Veda are a natural, cruelty free brand with a pretty cool ethos.
Their skincare is built on the priciples of Ayurveda, a traditional holistic healing system that states there are three main body types, known as doshas, these are Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These doshas express everything about us from our skin type and physical characteristics, to our health and personality traits. You can read more about Ayurveda on the Urban Veda site. Urban Veda have a questionnaire online to help you decide your ‘doshas’ and this in turn tells you the range that is most suited to you. (Pretty cool, huh?) Urban Veda skincare are also microbead free! They use powdered pumice in their scrubs which is a natural exfoliant and is much more gentle on sensitive skin.
My dosha is ‘Pitta’ and the soothing range is most suited, which is no surprise as my skin is so sensitive!
“Pitta skin tends to be fair and sensitive, and the heat that Pitta can generate in the body is generally indicated by moles, rosacea, rashes, acne and a tendency to burn in the sun easily. Pitta skin needs cooling and nurturing and a soothing skincare regime.”
Each range has a cleanser, toner, exfoliator, day cream and night cream and a body wash, body lotion and body exfoliator.
Soothing Day Cream*
This day cream contains calming sandalwood, anti-inflammatory rosemary, harmonising ylang ylang, irritation-relieving peppermint, clarifying clary sage, regenerating palmarosa and fights fatigue and dehydration.
As soon as you apply this to your face you can feel it instantly cooling and soothing. It sinks into skin really quickly and leaves skin soft and smooth. It’s lightweight but still gives deep hydration. This cream didn’t cause any spots or breakouts. (Something a lot of creams cause my sensitive skin to do) I’ve been using it every morning for around a month now and I genuinely love it. It smells luxurious and is such a treat to put on every morning.
The only thing I will say, this cream doesn’t have any SPF so be sure to use a suncream before this moisturiser!
Soothing Clarifying Night Cream*
The night cream contains balancing sandalwood, healing geranium, calming lavender and anti-inflammatory rosemary.
This is just as amazing as the day cream and has the same luxurious smell. I’ve always struggled with finding a night cream that deeply hydrates my skin but doesn’t cause me to break out. Like the day cream you feel an instant cooling effect when this is applied. It’s thicker than the day cream but sinks in just as quickly and thankfully didn’t cause any breakouts. This is a staple in my evening skincare routine, I couldn’t be without it. I also find the scent helps to relax me in the evening and help me get off to sleep quicker!
I absolutely love both of these creams and I can’t wait to try more of this range. All Urban Veda products are SLS and paraben free along with having no GM ingredients. They’re also cruelty free and vegetarian society approved. Honestly, what more could you want in a skincare range?!
Have you tried anything from Urban Veda? Take the questionnaire and let me know what your ‘doshas’ is!

I love the concept of this brand and how you can personalise which skincare range you use by them based off the questionnaire! I’ve never heard of this brand but finding a skincare brand that respects the environment and is also cruelty-free is amazing and I’ll definitely look into this brand!
