Thought I’d start my blog off with a good old favourites post. I know I love reading all of these at the end of the month and I sit with a notebook and pen making a list of all my must gets for the next month so I really hope you enjoy mine! Without further ado, let’s get started!
MAC – Prep + Prime Fix+ Spray
My first favourite of January has got to be my Mac fix+ spray. Mac describe this as,
“A lightweight mist of water packed with vitamins and minerals, infused with a blend of green tea, chamomile and cucumber to gently soothe and refresh the skin. Gives an instant boost of hydration while delivering a soft sheen to refresh and finish makeup.”
And give you a boost of hydration it does! I have insanely dry skin and this January Northern Irish weather has not been kind, I have dealt with breakouts and flaky skin with how cold and harsh the weather has been and the fix+ spray has been a life saver for me! I use the spray after cleansing and beneath all my makeup and let it settle in to my skin and soothe it before starting my makeup routine. I also use it when I’m finished my makeup to give my skin a healthy glow and to take the powdery look away.
Fix+ is also great for spraying on an eyeshadow brush before swirling it around in the product, this makes eye shadows more pigmented, I love to do this for shimmer shades for the middle of my eye lid and finally fix+ is great for spraying on your Beauty Blender when it’s beginning to dry out if you take forever on your makeup like I do!
Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm Tube
Once again due to this freezing January weather my poor lips have been insanely dry and cracked. Burt’s Bees lip balms are great, they come in lots of different flavours and use natural ingredients. I currently have the pomegranate oil, vanilla bean, beeswax and wild cherry. I carry one with me wherever I go, my favourite whenever I’m out and about is the pomegranate oil as it has a slight pink tint to it so it gives your lips a bit of colour if you don’t have any lipstick on. I use the beeswax lip balm mainly before I go to bed as I feel it’s the most intensive of the flavours so I pop it on before going to sleep and wake up with baby soft lips! These lip balms cost £3.99 and for the quality I feel this price is excellent and if you buy direct from their website they donate 10% of your purchase to the British Bee Keeping Association and who doesn’t want to help save all the bumblebees! 🐝
Spectrum Collections Brushes
I am IN LOVE with these brushes, I currently own five brushes from their original range, A04, B01, B02, C03 and C04. These brushes are from a UK based company and are vegan and cruelty free. They sell individual brushes as well as sets such as the Siren Collection, the Marbellous Collection and the Glam Clam. Their brushes are split into different sections A brushes for application, B brushes for buffing and blending, C brushes for contouring and finally their newest release D brushes which are duofibre brushes (I’m yet to try any duofibre brushes but can’t wait to get my hands on some!).
As you can see the brushes come in the most instagrammble pretty colours, the brushes are super soft and I am yet to see a single hair shed! They apply product so well and I cannot speak more highly of them. They are so satisfying to clean which definitely encourages me to wash my brushes more! (Every girls pet hate🙄) For the quality of the brushes the price is great, their individual brushes start at only £3.99!
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream and OPI Avoplex Cuticle Oil
This is a joint favourite as I’ve been using these two together every day. Due to my dry skin issues both my hands and cuticles are normally like the Sahara desert, but with this combo they’re finally starting to resemble some sort of healthy looking softness. I try to use cuticle oil three times a day, in the morning, before I go to sleep and at some point during the day. The OPI Avoplex comes in a perfect on the go bottle. It is exactly like a nail polish bottle and has a little brush to put the oil on, I simply run the oil over my finger at the top of my nail, massage in and then apply my Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. Although this is a body cream I feel it has worked wonders on my hands, the cream is not too sticky or slimy and melts into skin really quickly meaning it can be used all day rather than having to sit about and wait for you hands to dry.
Givenchy Le Rouge A Porter Lipstick
I recently received a sample of the Givenchy Le Rouge A Porter lipstick in the shade 201 Rose Aristocrate. It is a lovely sheer lipstick in a nude pink colour, it contains Hyaluronic Acid to nourish and protect lips which I feel is perfect for this time of year. As I said previously, my lips have been really dry due to the cold weather so this lipsticks has helped to soften my lips and get some moisture back. I will definitely be purchasing the full size of this lipstick as I feel it is a perfect everyday colour and texture.
I hope you enjoyed my January favourites, thanks for taking the time to have a nosey! Please feel free to leave comments, I’d love to hear your opinions!

I really love your writing style! Also I have heard too much about fix + to not pick it up on my next Sephora trip hahah! Also those brushes look too pretty I’d be hesitant to actually use them and make them dirty – the struggles!

They’re so worth using, trust me, once you’ve tried one, every brush youve had before will feel scratchy in comparison!
